Dare to Trust: Mama Sorghum Vredesbeweging handhaaft de biodiversiteit

The Lamaholot tribal community of East Flores and Lembata Regency, inhabiting islands such as Adonara, Solor, and Lembata, has a rich cultural heritage shaped by unique agricultural, fishing, and food traditions. However, these traditions are under threat from modernization, social shifts and climate change, leading to a loss of local food knowledge and cultural practices.

To address these challenges, local organization Yasores promotes food security and preserves Lamaholot culture, particularly through empowering youth and women on Adonara and Lembata Islands. The project involves 225 participants (108 men and 117 women) and includes community training, organizational development, and activities designed to reinforce local food systems and cultural preservation.
