International development and the environment caught my interest already as a child. I can't stand injustice, whether it's against people or nature. Therefore a job at a human rights and environmental organization like Both ENDS is all I could wish for.
The work my colleagues at Both ENDS do is quite specialised but at the same time all-encompassing. Policies and decisions made here in the Netherlands or at the international level have impact all around the world. I find that incredibly interesting and it's a fantastic challenge to write about this in such a way that it is understandable for outsiders as well. Communication can also play an important role in lobby and advocacy and in knowledge exchange. It inspires me to to think along about the communications channels we might use to achieve the best results.

Hundreds of European cities, regions, businesses, youth and faith groups and civil society organisations working on climate, human rights, litigation, mobilization, sports and health call upon leaders to profoundly alter the way we run our societies and economies to limit temperature rise to 1.5°C.

With these newly acquired land tenure rights, the community has started initiatives to use their land in a sustainable and inclusive way. What this means for the community in terms of livelihoods and food security, became clear during a field visit at the start of the Global Land Forum 2018.

From the first moment I arrive in Surabaya, I enter the rollercoaster called ECOTON. I'm visiting them to get to know the work of this long-time Both ENDS partner, and have only three days for this. But ECOTON does a lot, and all of it at the same time. Tirelessly, they work on the protection of the Brantas River.
