JVE Côte d'Ivoire (Jeunes Volontaires pour l'environnement)
active in the following countries
works with Both ENDS on
JVE is active in the transboundary Mono River Basin in Togo and Benin. With support from Both ENDS they work to ensure the Mono Basin is managed in an integrated way with the active involvement of local communities. They are part of the negotiations around the set up of a Mono Basin Authority and critically follow the planning process of a new large-scale hydropower dam, the Adjaralla dam.
JVE also works on alternative, renewable energy sources and are part of our joint work in ensuring the Green Climate Fund will be accessible to local actors.
added value of partnership
The collaboration with Both ENDS has contributed to JVE’s visibility in the Mono Basin and recognition by the Togo and Benin Government in its important role in IWRM, by ensuring communities are well represented in the negotiations related to water management in the Mono.
Working with Both ENDS helps JVE to create leadership opportunities and give hope to youth for a sustainable development. The capacity building acquired has contributed to adapt JVE’s work method to a smart and objective one and improve our projects proposals. The technical support helps to train the local partners of JVE and the communities. Both ENDS also provides important seed money to start up our projects.
EXTRA
JVE (Youth Volunteers for the Environment) was founded in the early 2000s as a result of an initiative of a small group of young students living in a village of Tsiko in a mountainous region of southern Togo. Today YVE is a strong network represented in more than 22 countries in the world and becomes today the greatest youth environmental movement in Africa.
