A puzzle tour on sustainability

On the 29th of May Sjef Langeveld took leave from his office as director of Both ENDS and introduced Daniƫlle Hirsch to replace him. The farm of Sjef in the beautiful surroundings of the village of Chaam was the setting for a day filled with memories, but above all ideas for the future.

During the afternoon the guests of Sjef and Both ENDS made a tour on sustainability through the vineyard. On different locations people were challenged to have a discussion on: sustainable trade, ecology and economy, the upgrading of civil society organizations, sustainable use of space, climate compensation and marketing of local products.

Both ENDS got a lot of interesting advise from her partners. For example: Both ENDS should orientate itself more on Profit within the entity People, Planet, Profit. It would be good when Both ENDS could find a proper balance between ideology and cooperation with companies. Partners also agreed that Both ENDS should put even more emphasis on getting the voices of the South heard in national politics. Partners were also convinced that Both ENDS should direct itself more towards young people, since the young still have the future.

Besides an afternoon filled with discussions, guests could also taste from the ecological wine of Sjefs son, speeches were made, the new Dutch website was launched and in the evening guests could enjoy the local food. To make things short, the 29th of May was a rewarding goodbye for a memorable director and a good start of a new Both ENDS chapter. That is why we want to thank everybody who contributed to this day, who sent their regards and thinks warmly of Both ENDS. A special thank you goes out to all our Southern partners
